Shelby County Law Enforcement Foundation Presents Training Aids to Shelby County Sheriff’s Office

Columbiana, AL – May 3, 2014

On May 3, 2014, the Shelby County Law Enforcement Foundation presented training weapons for use by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Training Center to Lt. Cody Sumners.  These training weapons are exact duplicates in size and weights of the actual weapons carried by deputies on duty, but are non-functioning.  The training weapons are used in unarmed combat exercises. The duplicate weapons are brightly colored to insure that training is being done with non-functioning simulators. The Foundation provided 15 standard Glock service pistols and four Colt M4 rifles used by patrol deputies.  They also provided two compact Glock 27 pistols used by some investigators. The total cost of the weapons was approximately $1,400. This purchase was funded by contributions coming from graduates of the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy.
